Flowering Blooms

Hello Stampers!  Today's post is all about my birthday!  Many of you know it's my first without my beautiful sister Michelle, and many of you also know that we spent several of my recent birthday together so it was going to be a tough one for me this year knowing that wasn't an option.  Last year just before my birthday we learned her Cancer was back...and a few days after my birthday I made a trip to TN to spend some time with her which I am so glad I did as the world locked down the following week making travel difficult and uncertain.  

I want to thank so many of you for lifting me up on my birthday I got so many phone calls, texts, cards and FB posts this year it really helped a lot!  Look at my fireplace mantel!  AMAZING!  

I am going to share a story with you grab a tissue it's liable to bring a tear or two but it's a good story!  Last summer when I went back to TN to help with my sisters care she gave me a gift card for a restaurant I had never heard of-she didn't tell me how much was on it or any details about why she had it just that she wanted me to have it.  She said it was in my area.  I brought it home and last fall googled the restaurant (Seascapes in Bellevue, WA) it's quite a distance and at the time only had take out available due to Covid-19 restrictions in our area....so I put it back in my wallet and kind of forgot about it.  In February my husband and I were trying to come up with a birthday plan and I remembered that gift card in my wallet.  I contacted the restaurant and found out they were open and took reservations and the gift card was for $100.  WOW!  So that is where I spent my birthday dinner with my sister treating us and making my first birthday without her extra special.  While my sister hadn't been to this restaurant I did figure out why she had that gift card and that we had actually had dinner in the Pismo Beach, CA location several years ago.  It's just the kind of place she loved to go and I know she was smiling down at me and happy I choose to use the gift card in this manner.  Here I am on my birthday with a flourless chocolate cake (SO GOOD!).  

This is my sister dancing with my youngest grandson Leif 5 years ago on at my 60th birthday party!  My niece gave me have this dress of hers and I decided to wear it on my birthday!  

I don't often share personal tidbits on my blog but I hope it's okay if I did, this is one way I am keeping my sisters memories alive is by documenting them so they are available forever.
